As soon as the tablet comes out, I’m dumping my iPhone and going to use a Blackberry or Nexus One for mobile phone and email. I’m then going to get the 3G tablet, which will be ideal for web surfing and applications. The upside of this configuration is that the iPhone is a terrible product for voice and only a passable product for email. I use it because I love access to the web everywhere. From a price standpoint, paying $30/month with no contract for 3G data on the iPad is a fair deal. The downside to this is that I carry a bag (backpack or shoulder bag) only about 50% of the time. This means that in many situations, especially in the evenings, I’ll be just with my Blackberry or Nexus without the great browsing experience of the iPhone.
With that said, if I’m only going to have one data contract, I think I want it on an iPad vs. an iPhone. If and when the iPhone comes off the AT&T exclusive, I’ll have an even greater conundrum. Long story short, iPad and Blackberry/Droid until something else changes.
My concerns:
Typing on it looks bizarre. I hover my fingers over it while it is flat on a table?

Or…I put in on my knees while laying back on a couch like I’m at the student union? It seems that because you’re unable to hold it and use it with your thumbs, they’ve had to come up with an odd posture scenario. In all likelihood, I’ll hold it in one hand and use the other to navigate or put it flat on the table. I’m simply not sure I’m enough of a knee propper to own an iPad. These are just a few of the screen captures from the video – it seems the only way to use the device is to lay down and prop it on your knee. Look at all these knee pictures from the one video!
