We launched our self-service viral advertising product on Thursday. Here’s the overview video.
We quickly have opened Boost up to anyone with a BuzzFeed Account. One of the novel elements, is that not only can a user Boost his or her own content, he can literally boost any content on BuzzFeed. For example, let’s say that Columbia Pictures, the studio behind The Social Network, was interested in promoting organic content associated with the movie.
This post on Eduardo Saverin is currently live on BuzzFeed.

And notice this post, like every post on Buzzfeed, now carries a Boost Button.

Columbia could just Boost it. And like all Boosted content, the more viral it is, the less Columbia would pay.
The possibilities are endless under the “boost someone else’s buzz” scenario. Nintendo, for example, could even query and boost a bunch of content users have posted.
