We have a meme that just went viral on Buzzfeed, and it seemed worthwhile to walk through it on this blog, given that some business readers might not be Internet culture junkies.
Ice Cream Dude appeared on the cover of the Washington Post, yesterday morning. One of our editors (Tanner Ringerud) saw the original image posted in Tumblr, and quickly posted it to Buzzfeed with a funny and questioning title. He also embedded a high quality image, and created a photo template for our users.
The tool let’s people “photo bomb” ice cream dude quickly and easily:

The post got 8,755 views via seeding on BuzzFeed.com and our network, and has seen 20,833 viral views.  The biggest viral sources being Facebook and Tumblr.  That’s a 2.3x viral lift.  Imagine if we had seeded with a million views.  Also check out the SEO on “ice cream storm dude.”
